Though it's located only 10 minutes or so from Ubud, the tranquility at Como Shambhala Estate can fool guests into feeling worlds away from civilization. This is truly one of those properties that can only be fully appreciated by spending at least a few nights, immersing oneself in the lush beauty of the grounds, the discreet but top-notch service, the excellent and varied cuisine at Como Shambhala's two restaurants and such retreat activities as yoga and pilates. Located above the Ayung River gorge, the estate boasts lush jungle views. A hike down to the river reveals a secret garden with pools and a spa area, where you can relax before climbing the stair-path back to the top. The yoga and pilates pavilions are in jungle settings and the suites look out on rich tropical vegetation. Everywhere you go on the property is a feast for the eyes. The calming effect is immediate. This is, after all, a true retreat.

Como Shambhala's Wellness Programs are offered for guests who want to take full advantage of the Estate's retreat aspect and holistic philosophy. Guests who opt to participate in a Wellness Program can choose from Ayurvedic, Cleanse, Be Active, Stress Management, Rejuvenation or Oriental Medicine. Following a consulation, upon arrival at the Estate, guests are provided with a custom program for their stay.

Most of the accommodations at Como Shambhala Estate are situated in "residences." Each residence is made up of several rooms or suites. Each accommodation is freestanding, so you're not sharing common walls with anyone else. The accommodations within each residence share a large pool (there's also a main pool on the property, for the use of all guests) and open-air lounge area, so that it almost feels as if you're staying in a small exclusive resort within a resort. Como Shambhala also offers villas with private pool and lounge area.
